Doe at Sunrise

Doe at sunrise

A female mule deer giving us a surprised glance as we came upon her on the trail at sunrise. Taken on the Chimney Rock Trail in Point Reyes National Seashore.

  1. How was Chimney Rock? I'm thinking about heading out to Pt. Reyes on Friday, but I can't decide where I want to be at dawn....

  2. Thanks, Pescalune!

John, I didn't get to this until after the sunrise, but I hope your hike goes well. It's always a tough decision to try to decide where to be. We went to Chimney Rock in mid-April, and the wildflowers were really awesome. Its so windy there on a regular basis that it was almost like tundra flowers, with everything growing low to the ground. But the diversity didn't disappoint!
