Tip of the feather, Parker River National Wildlife Refuge

Sanderling preening, Parker River National Wildlife Refuge

As the flock of over 100 sandpipers ran across the sand, this sanderling paused for a moment to check its feathers -- all the way out to the tips.

    1. Thanks, Jim! Parker River has become my favorite destination in the area. It's been consistently good for shorebirds, which is a definite draw for me.
