I'm always preferential to the sunrise when I have the chance, but last autumn I had a couple of really successful sunset trips in Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. I spent about an hour working with a friendly flock of sandpipers at the Lot 7 beach in pleasant evening light, but as the sun prepared to slip behind the dunes this sandpiper really started glowing in the warm final rays.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Brian! It's amazing to me how the warm colors at the edge of the day can make such a dramatic change to a scene. Perhaps since those moments are so fleeting, our brain derives pleasure from the rare.
DeleteWonderful colours - as you said to BK above its such a good time of the day. I love this time of year here, as my walk home from work coincides with the dusk and the light is great - although I don't see too many Sanderling!

Thanks, Stewart! I agree about enjoying the walk home during late fall/early spring when the light is nice. It makes an ordinary trip home much more special -- even if there's a distinct lack of sandpipers on my walk through the city ;-)
