A raptor surveys its domain at sunrise from the top of a tall pine tree. This shot was taken at a pull out along Limatour Road in Point Reyes National Seashore.

    Thanks, Jim! I always enjoy being in Point Reyes for the sunrise, but this was one of the best I've experienced.

    Including the pine needles in the silhouette was clever. And that deep glow makes it so intense.

    Thanks, duck-or-grouse. I was definitely drawn to the silhouette of the tree as well since it has an interesting shape, and helps to place the bird in its world a bit more.
