Preening Northern Pintail

I love to photograph northern pintails, and I think the drake's can look especially stunning when they show off those patterns as they preen. So in honor of Valentine's Day coming up on Monday, here's a few shots of this handsome fella getting himself ready to impress the ladies.

  1. Great exposures ... did you use a polarizer? Or, was it overcast? I often blow out the white spots on images like these.

  2. Thanks, Paul!

Thanks, Dan! This was a heavily overcast day, so perfect for photographing wildlife! I agree that in full sun, these ducks are tricky to get a good exposure on.
